Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) was established in July, 2000 at Rawalpindi and Lahore for promoting engineering education in the country. Owing to the significance of telecom sector and its potential for extraordinary growth, the B.E (Telecom) was the first discipline to be started . A team of experts and professional engineers from telecom sector got associated with Allama Iqbal Open University for the development of curriculum and various tiers of academic bodies of the university approved the syllabus.
IET is producing quality engineers at a low cost in collaboration with Allama Iqbal Open University and large number of our qualified engineers are working in telecom organizations across the country and abroad. A good strength of our qualified engineers is also studying abroad. It is a matter of pride for the university that both institutions at Rawalpindi and Lahore have been accredited with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for B.E (telecom) program with effect from 2008. B.tech (Auto), MCS, MBA and MBA (IT) are also run in collaboration with Allama Iqbal Open University. For running technical education, laboratories play important role and for this purpose, IET has established twenty state of art labs.
The university provide its students with the facility of library which covers an area of 2000 sq ft. and it contains 6500 books. The library has an excellent collection of books from the fields of communication, spectrum, antenna, signal processing, micro and computer. There are 979 books of electrical, 1223 books of computer and 1700 books of electronics. There are well equipped electronics, communication, computer, digital signal processing and microprocessor system labs for the students to develop their skills.
