The botany curriculum provides a broad background in the biology of plants - from the molecular to the organismic level. Students who major in botany will take courses in ecology, genetics, physiology, taxonomy, anatomy, molecular biology of plants and biochemistry. You will learn the diversity of life, the structure of organisms and ecosystems and how they function (i.e., the acquisition, flow, organization and uses of information, energy and nutrients in living systems).
Degree requirement for this program are:
- M.Sc. or its equivalent qualifications in the relevant field with CGPA not less than 2.50/4.00 OR with 45% marks under the Annual System. Must have passed GAT (General) with 50% marks.
After completing this degree you will be able to take up the position of a researcher in a scientific research institute (like PCSIR, NIAB, NIBGE, Punjab Seed Corporation, Agriculture and Horticulture). Various Public & Private sector educational institutes also offer teaching and research posts for such graduates.
