Plant pathology (also phytopathology) is the scientific study of plant diseases caused by infectious organisms and environmental conditions. Organisms that cause infectious disease include fungi, oomycetes, bacteria, viruses, viroids, virus-like organisms, phytoplasmas, protozoa, nematodes and other parasitic plants.
Degree requirements for this program are:
- Candidates must have passed MA/MSc/Pharm D/BS (4-years) or equivalent (16-years of education) in the relevant field, or have an equivalent degree from HEC recognized institution with at least second division or cGPA 2.0/4.0.
Plant pathology plays an important role in plant disease control. This field holds extreme importance in an Agricultural Country in Pakistan. Plant pathologists work directly with agricultural producers, food processors, landscape and forest managers, or other professionals involved in growing or managing plants.
