Soil science is the study of soil as a natural resource on the surface of the earth including soil formation, classification and mapping; physical, chemical, biological, and fertility properties of soils; and these properties in relation to the use and management of soils.
Degree requirement for this program are:
- Person holding Intermediate Science Certificate, (Pre-Medical or Pre-Engineering), or an equivalent certificate from any recognized Institute with at least second division or overall 45% marks shall be eligible for admission to BSc. (Hons.) Agriculture. The Soil Science as major subject is opted after fourth semesters.
Soil, a natural and renewable resource, is vital to sustaining food production, supporting plant and animal life and providing a foundation for infrastructures across the world. Therefore, soil scientists can operate in a range of professional areas including research for public and private sector institutions; government policy; consultancy; overseas development; assistance with onsite archaeological excavations and subsequent laboratory analysis; landscape design; forensics; site reclamation and remediation; and environmental conservation.
