Plant breeding is the art and science of changing the traits of plants in order to produce desired characteristics. Plant breeding can be accomplished through many different techniques ranging from simply selecting plants with desirable characteristics for propagation, to more complex molecular techniques. The MSc (Hons) Agriculture program is offered to provide excellent graduate level education in agriculture, with emphasis on the production and protection of crops, the interactions between agriculture and the wider environment and the business and marketing skills needed to manage agricultural systems in a sustainable way.

Degree requirement for this program is:

  • BSc (Hons) Agriculture in the respective discipline with 45% marks, or CGPA 2.5/4.0, with 50% score in GAT General conducted by NTS.

Plant breeding has been practiced for thousands of years, since near the beginning of human civilization. It is now practiced worldwide by individuals such as gardeners and farmers, or by professional plant breeders employed by organizations such as government institutions, universities, crop-specific industry associations or research centers.
