The program in Urdu seeks to develop in students an understanding of Urdu Literature, both in poetry and prose. The students are exposed to Urdu literature starting from the 17th century till the present time. This includes the study of selected literary text from the classical and modern period covering the works of writers of Urdu.
Degree requirement for this is:
- FA/FSc Part-I with minimum 55% marks OR any equivalent examination.
- The NAT conducted by the National Testing Service with a minimum 50% cumulative score.
The Bachelor program in Urdu teaches the students about the history and structure of Urdu language. It aims to develop clarity, precision and maturity in spoken and written Urdu and to familiarize students with URdu prose and poetry. It is focused on the importance of cultural and social values in understanding the forces that have shaped the civilization of the region.
