International Relations (IR) is the study of relationships among countries, the roles of sovereign states, inter-governmental organizations (IGO), international non-governmental organizations (INGO), non-governmental organizations (NGO), and multinational corporations (MNC). International relations is an academic and a public policy field, and so can be positive and normative, because it analyzes and formulates the foreign policy of a given State.International Relations is as much about thinking critically and understanding complexity as it is developing strong influence and negotiation skills. Essential for professionals in this field is the ability to work and think in complex, interconnected scenarios and bring solutions. You will be required to apply analytical & reasoning abilities together with the art of persuasion and diplomacy to address real-world issues.
Degree requirement for this program is:
- Equivalence if other than FSc (A’Level etc...)
- Intermediate or its equivalent with minimum 60% marks.
The Bachelor of International Studies is a three-year (equivalent full-time) degree program which provides students with an interdisciplinary core of courses which provide grounding in the cultural and communicative aspects of globalisation and the world system. Each student completes a major in a language other than English from the wide range of languages taught at UQ and another major with strong international relevance.
